I remember the formulas and I know a few of their practical applications. It's mostly practical applications of order and patterns.

It's also obnoxious, I can see why it was left out of my education at home. My instructors here reassure me that I'm only having problems because it's new, not because it's difficult.

If it wouldn't make doing the work harder I'd burn the textbook.

Learning is difficult by definition. If you were already good at it, you wouldn’t be learning it. You’d be practicing. While it might not make you feel much better now, think of what you get to develop by practicing something that’s difficult when so many other things have come easily. If worst comes to worst, there’s the old standard of crumpling up your work and throwing it really hard.

And here everyone tells me the homework IS practice.

If I can't get a decent grip on it this semester, assuming I remain long enough, there's plenty of time to aim for a career that is neither wholesale slaughter or math.

I feel like there's a lot of options between those.

I might be splitting hairs on the difference between learning and practicing, but I find it helps to be precise. Particularly with formulas, you can't afford to forget to carry over anything. That does seem a solid assumption, yes. We can talk about different career options when we meet. Bring your math books and I will bring ridiculous junk food.

Especially with the likes of engineering. Forget to carry a 1 somewhere and your spaceship blows up.

No icecream, please. I've had too much lately. I don't know what Thirteen put in it besides truth serum, but I'm pretty sure I've had every single flavor available in Never Fade at this point.

I have no idea what a cheeto is, based on name alone.

They can't really be described, only experienced. Do you like spicy flavors?

Context suggests Cheetos are spicy? I don't have much experience with spicy foods, but I'm willing to try most things.

Some flavors of Cheetos are spicy, some are not. I’ll see what I can find. If you don’t like them, I know who we can donate them to.

Then it works out well. If they'll eat a bottle presumably they'll eat a cheeto. I've heard of but not seen them eat even stranger things.

I could get back there in a day or two. During the week I attend at Kuma Lisa, but I don't think there's much punishment if I skip a day.

You don't need to break your routine. I won't be staying in Never Fade long. What time does school get out? We can take a look at your homework.

I usually leave by four or so. If you don't mind things running a bit late, I think I could reach Never Fade a few hours later if the wind favors me.

This is sounding like more of an inconvenience to you, not less. But if you want to meet up here, I don't mind waiting.

No doing it this way means I don't need to rush back to vacuum. I'd rather the train ride.

All right. We can meet at the restaurant and then find a place that won't mind Cheetos and Algebra.
